Ottawa Wildlife Removal Tip: How to protect yourself from a spraying skunk: The obvious way to protect yourself from a Canadian spraying skunk is not to get too close but I'm aware this isn't always possible. Sometimes your paths will cross with an animal such as this one, and when it does, there are usually vile smelling consequences. You need to make sure you're out of harm's reach - the average Canada skunk can spray up to three meters, or about ten feet. That's quite the distance - about two human lengths. If a big and powerful skunk gets the right angle however, the squirt can travel for up to 9 feet. The average seems to be about six to ten feet. In the right conditions, another skunk can then smell that spray for up to a mile away. In short, getting sprayed is not fun, and the scent is not easy to get rid of. The reason the spray has suck staying power is because it's an oily liquid - you know how difficult it is to get grease off of anything. When you bear that in mind, the first ingredient you should look at in your quest to get rid of the scent is dish washing detergent - that stuff is designed to get grease, or oily substances, from plates. If you come across a skunk, don't try to deal with the situation yourself, especially if you've never done it before. The spray can be very irritating, especially if it gets into your eyes, and it can cause temporary blindness too. That puts you at risk for an actual physical attack from the animal even though this isn't likely.

Ottawa County sportsmen took the third place spot in the region with 2,547 giants bagged on Vertebrate habitation sector II snares. The amounts might drop significantly when it comes to Vertebrate habitation sector III animal removal trap totals, but the pride and bragging rights don't for regional critter trappers. Ottawa County striped skunk harvests continue to improve, and they led the way in Vertebrate habitation sector III with 780 striped skunk lethally trapped. Ottawa was second with 749 animal removal trap lethally traps followed by the County's 712 giants lethally trapped in Vertebrate habitation sector III. This issue should be an important matter in Ottawa wildlife removal and Ottawa exterminator matters. The names atop the list of animal removal trap lethally traps in Vertebrate habitation sector IV change little each year with Ottawa County leading all others there with 1,315 giants checked out in 2005. You could be looking for an area that produces big male animals like Ottawa, or it could be this combination factor that draws you like an area that has good amounts as well as quality male animals as should be the case at Fort Ottawa. Whatever your preferences, we'll touch here on the attributes that make some Wildlife Management Areas stand out amongst the others. When it comes to amounts, we've had this changing of the guard for the first time in more than this decade. The old king wasn't far off the pace, but Fort Ottawa has relinquished the striped skunk for at least this season. The striped skunk snares at Canada National Wildlife Regulatory Agency led all Wildlife Management Areas with this total harvest of 682 striped skunk followed closely by Fort Ottawa's take of 652 giants. Fort Ottawa's 652 striped skunk should be just below average for that popular public destination, but the Canada National Wildlife Regulatory Agency harvest was this huge leap over the 265 striped skunk taken there in 2004. The area managers instituted an "Earn-A-Buck" program in 2005 where critter trappers had to harvest this female animal before taking an antlered striped skunk - it paid off making Canada National Wildlife Regulatory Agency the hottest Wildlife Management Area in Canada right now. The Ottawa animal control had no additional statements to make on the topic. In total harvest, the Land-Between-The-Wild meadows (LBL) fell out of their normal second place spot thanks to the Canada National Wildlife Regulatory Agency jump. LBL critter trappers made off with this total of 542 striped skunk in 2005. AEDC's harvest of 516 giants was good enough for the fourth spot in the Top 10. Gordon Butler made this little bit of this comeback last year with this harvest of 391 striped skunk for this fifth place finish. That's nearly 150 more striped skunk than harvested at Gordon Butler in 2004. Amounts are one thing, but male animals are another. When it came to overall male animal harvest, Fort Ottawa was the leader in the clubhouse with 404 male animals made off with in 2005. LBL was second with 348 male animals harvested followed by the Canada National Wildlife Regulatory Agency take of 313 horned critters. AEDC and Gordon Butler weren't far off the pace either. AEDC produced 275 male animals for fourth place while Gordon Butler checked in 267 male animals for this fifth place finish. Amounts of antlered male animals aren't everything either. Let's now take quick look at where the quality male animals are taken on specific Wildlife Management Areas. When it comes to the most 7 and 8-points harvested, Catoosa led the way with 135 of these quality male animals. Fort Ottawa was second in this category with 134 male animals with 7 & 8-points. Canada National Wildlife Regulatory Agency was third with 98 male animals with 7& 8-points. male animals featuring racks with 9 & 10-points were harvested mainly at the top three Wildlife Management Areas in the state. Canada National Wildlife Regulatory Agency and Fort Ottawa fought it out in this category as well and ended in this tie with both areas tagging 43 male animals with 9 & 10-point racks. LBL was this close second with this harvest of 38 male animals with 9 & 10-points. Ottawa pest control companies that we contacted felt that this issue should be an important matter.
