Many of North Carolina's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving North Carolina's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocaton services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Wilson county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. Wilson Wildlife Removal Tip:

Finding and removing dead raccoons

Raccoons are way too unbearable when they are alive and scurrying around, but they don't do you any favors when they die unexpectedly in inaccessible places within your house. All of a sudden, a terrible stench is wafting through your house, and now you have the unenviable task of finding and removing the carcass.

Why do they die in inaccessible places though?

Well, raccoons don't exactly plan where they die. For the most part, the unexpected deaths could be a result of the mammal touching the wrong things, or it could be the result of a baby falling through the walls.

Another major cause is the use of poisons. Raccoon poisons are illegal in some places, but then again, it is also pretty ineffective. You see, on the rare occasion that it does work, the animal is going to die very slowly. This means that it has enough time to wander off to a secluded place within your house and die in peace over there. If you do intend to kill the creature, it is better to make a clean job of it and call an exterminator.

After considering the causes let's take a look at how you can find and remove dead raccoons.

Inspect your attic thoroughly

It is quite difficult, but it is worth it because the majority of the raccoons end up in the attic. Therefore, it is natural to conduct a complete inspection of the place to find the carcass, or at least find signs indicating that raccoons have been here. You will have to search every part of the attic for this purpose.

If you can't find a dead raccoon, try looking for nests instead. You will, of course, have to remove them anyway if they are present.

Keep an ear out for weird sounds

If a raccoon is nowhere in plain sight, you should strain your ears for unusual squealing sounds indicative of dead raccoons. Now, these sounds could be coming from the walls or from up above, and it can be hard to be certain. However, once you are confident, it is time for the removal to commence.

Use protective clothing

You don't want a dead raccoon to be the cause of your death. Hence it is necessary to don protective gloves and clothes with long sleeves before proceeding to handle the animal. You should wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth, to prevent the stench from overwhelming you. You will have to carry a shopping bag or pillowcase with you so that the carcass can be placed somewhere.

Contact raccoon professionals

If the steps above seem too difficult, don't worry. You can always call raccoon professionals to assist you in this arduous task. After all, they are licensed individuals, and they will know how to find and remove the carcass in the best way possible.
