Silver Spring Wildlife Removal Tip: What if a pigeon got inside my house, bedroom, kitchen, etc

Pigeons have been known to become very comfortable around people, especially if they are being fed. These birds will venture into your home in search of food or water, they have also been known to steal the food out of your dog's bowl.

If a pigeon comes into your home it would be best to give it a few minutes to find its way out. It is very possible that if it is left alone it will exit the way it entered. Ensure that your pets are not in the vicinity of the bird, they will scare it which will make the situation a lot worse than it is.

Wait a few minutes and try to get the pigeon to calm down, if it finds itself trapped in an unfamiliar place it might flap around and start breaking things. This will only serve to agitate it more.

You have a few options

1. Try to close all windows and openings that let light in, trying to keep the house as dark as possible, the pigeon may fly towards the light that is entering from the open door.
2. You can also try the complete opposite and open up all of the windows and doors, then have a seat. The more you move around the more scared the bird will become.
3. Try to catch the bird and relocate it outside, this can be achieved by using a light net or a tablecloth. Try not to use a heavy material as this might hurt the pigeon.
4. You can use a tablecloth or sheet to "herd" the bird towards an open door or window.
5. Place a sheet or table cloth on the floor, once the bird moves over it take try to pick it up and move the bird outside.
6. Try to use a rolled-up newspaper or magazine to "shoo" the bird towards the door.
