Clarksburg Wildlife Removal Tip: Humanely trapping and removing snakes
There are two common ways to humanely move snakes from your property without causing any harm to the snake. Most of us don't like snakes, but they are actually more scared of us than we are of them. Snakes are fairly easy to catch with the right equipment.

Using a funnel trap
This is a trap that allows you to capture a snake and safely transport it to another place. The funnel trap is more for beginners that are not very familiar with snakes.It will allow snakes to enter but once inside the snake cannot get back out again. The funnel trap can be used for rodents and lizards as well.

If you keep a funnel trap around your home be sure to check it daily, so no animals are left suffering inside. You can buy a funnel trap from your local hardware store, or if you are handy enough with your hands, you can construct one of your own.

It is best to place the funnel trap along a fence or in a quiet, dark area where snakes are likely to go. Once you have caught the snake or rodent etc. it's important to not reach into the trap as the snake will see you as a threat and bite.Not all snakes are venomous, but if you don't know much about snakes, it can be hard to know which ones are venomous.

You can use a bucket to cover the opening part then you can flip it upside down letting the snake and the cone go into the bucket then you can take the snake to somewhere else and release it or call your local wildlife if you believe the snake is injured or you rather not handle it yourself.

Using a glue board
Another method is called using a glue board that works at catching snakes but using a non-toxic glue over a surface that will catch the snake as it crawls over the glue. Once the snake is caught you can move it to another place. Add vegetable oil to the snake and the trap to allow the snake to get free from the glue. If you know about snakes and are happy to handle them, wipe as much oil from the snake as you can otherwise the wildlife rescue can do this. The oil can make the snake lose its scales if left on its body too long which can be fatal for the snake. The glue method is more for people who have handled snakes before.

Snakes can be venous, and rattlesnakes are fatal even small ones. If you are not familiar or comfortable with handling the snake safely for your protection and the snake call the wildlife rescue who will be happy to assist in taking it out to the bushland area and setting him free.

Don't place either the funnel trap or glue board in direct sunlight. Snakes have no mechanisms to cool themselves down so if left for too long they will die.
