Many of Illinois's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Illinois's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Kane county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Aurora animal control for wildlife issues.

Aurora Wildlife Removal Tip: What Should I Do With An Opossum After I Catch It?

Opossum trapping is something that many people will do when they discover that they have an infestation in or around their home, and one of the biggest things to realize is that removing the opossum is just as important as catching it. Opossums are not particularly clever or elusive creatures, so a sturdy cage trap will often catch the animal on the first or second attempt, and in most cases when you go to the trap the opossum will be none too pleased with its situation. Make sure you are careful when you are handling the trap, and make sure you have weighed up all the options before taking action.

Is The Opossum Injured Or Is It An Orphaned Baby Opossum?

One of the most important things to check is to see about the health of the opossum that you have caught, and signs of injury such as cuts or visibly broken limbs should be treated. Equally, relocating a baby opossum is not possible, so the key in both these situations is to find someone who can help. There are lists of wildlife rehabilitators that can be found online, while your local veterinary practice and local wildlife department will also have contacts among local rehabilitators. An injured or orphaned opossum should be taken to them to receive the appropriate care.

Relocating An Opossum

In most states it is legal to relocate an opossum, although you will find that the rules about how and where it is done can vary from region to region. The ideal situation is if you can release the animal at least ten miles away from where it was causing a problem, as this will make it very unlikely that the opossum will be able to make its way back to your home to cause further problems. Where possible, it is also best to release the animal in a rural area well away from any homes or buildings, and be careful to avoid contact when releasing the opossum.

Humane Euthanasia

For those who have caught an opossum in a state where relocating animals is not permitted, then the other option will be to kill the animal as humanely as possible. Shooting is one possible option when dealing with the animal, while a lethal injection can be provided by animal specialists in some states. The key in these circumstances is to be as humane as possible, and to minimize any stress and suffering on the part of the animal.

The rat and mouse catches at Illinois NWR led all wildlife management areas with some sort of total gather of 792 rat and mouse followed closely by Aurora's take of 762 natives. Aurora's 762 rat and mouse is just below average for that popular public destination, but the Illinois NWR gather was some sort of huge leap over the 276 rat and mouse taken there in 2004.
