While some may really like snakes, the truth is that the vast majority of people would rather not have them around their property. It doesn't even matter if the snake is non-venomous. They really just don't like snakes and would prefer that they stayed as far away from their yard as possible. This is why they would like to know what kind of home remedies they could use to keep away snakes and get rid of them for good.

The first thing you should do is to deny the snake the ability to get onto your land. This can best be accomplished by putting up some kind of wall or fence that blocks to snake from being able to get through. Ensure that a fence goes all the way to the ground and is at least 3 feet high so that the snake is not able to get under or over it.

You should also do a thorough check around the outside of your house to make sure that there are no gaps, cracks, holes, or loose boards that can give a snake the ability to get into your home. If you have firewood, stack it at least a couple of feet off the ground, usually on some kind of shelf, so that the snake will not have a place to make home. Make sure you mow your lawn, and trim bushes and trees so as not to give any location either.

If your house is placed on some kind of foundation, and there is not a barrier around the space between the foundation and the ground, then you need to add one. This will deny the snake access to getting underneath your house, a perfect location for an animal like this to use for shelter.

You will likely see that there are homemade repellents that you can use, but these have limited, if any, success at all. Things like mothballs and ammonia do not have the kind of impact you were hoping for, but can be an additional deterrent if you place them directly around the wall or fence. The repellents should never be used as the only means to keep the snake away.

If you take these kinds of measures you should have very little difficulty in keeping the snake out of your yard.
