Many of Connecticut's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Connecticut's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocaton services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local New Haven county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Wallingford animal control for wildlife issues.

Wallingford Wildlife Removal Tip:

Chipmunk Prevention - How to keep Chipmunks away from yard or landscaping

Chipmunks can do quite a bit of damage to your garden and crops. They are destructive and ready to eat everything. It therefore pays to learn how to keep them away. There are several simple yet effective ways of getting rid of chipmunks including by using predators and by making loud noises. Here is a brief look at how you can keep chipmunks off your property.

Use a decoy or keep a predator

If you do not own a hawk or owl, then you can keep chipmunks away by using a decoy. Simply place the decoy close to a nest or near where chipmunks like to come. Decoy predators like an owl that is motion activated can do wonders in scaring away chipmunks.

Use predator scent

Another option available to you is to use predator scent as a means to deter chipmunks. Scent of a coyote or the urine of a bobcat will work well to keep chipmunks away. However, even these scents are not the most effective but by reapplying them regularly you can make it seem like the scent is fresh. This method however won't work too well if you are living in an area where there is lot of rainfall.

Fence your property

Fencing your property is also an option worth trying out if you want to prevent chipmunks from entering your yard or landscaping. Just make sure you erect the right kind of fence and that there is an underground protective layer that will prevent the chipmunk from burrowing under the fence.

Mesh fences

Mesh fences are a good way of keeping chipmunks away from your yard or landscaping. This option gives you a way to protect your property. Erecting a large sized fence around the perimeter of your property can do wonders. Be sure to erect this fence in those places that are most frequented by chipmunks. Erecting a mesh fence around the spots where you grow fruits and vegetables is a good way of preventing chipmunks from entering your property.

Mesh wiring or cayenne or chili powder

Some people opt to use mesh wiring but this is not the best option as the wiring will make your yard look unattractive. You can however make use of cayenne or chili powder which you can sprinkle around the garden. This is a non-toxic solution that will keep chipmunks at bay.

Use a trap

Trapping chipmunks is also an option worth exploring. This option works best if there are only a small number of chipmunks on your property. Use a live trap that is designed to trap chipmunks and then once the animal has been trapped, you can release it somewhere where it is safe and legal to do so.

Remember that chipmunks can become a real nightmare as they tend to chew up your newly planted tomato seeds and they will also dig up your garden and eat up your plant bulbs. They are also persistent and creative and can get into your property easily. Using the above-mentioned tips, you can achieve your goal of keeping them off your property.
