Many of Connecticut's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Connecticut's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocaton services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Litchfield county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Thomaston animal control for wildlife issues.

Thomaston Wildlife Removal Tip:

How to Get Rid of Gophers

Why are gophers bad for your lawn?

With a gopher it is almost impossible to detect the holes in the lawn and blame them for it, apart from the fact that they leave little hills of mud and sand at the top of the hole. These creatures do most of the digging in the warmer temperature seasons. Once a hole is located, it is easy for the human to catch the creature, as it will most likely pop back out of the same place.

The best plan of action is to inform authorities of this creature or humanely capture it yourself using various techniques such as netting, gassing or repellents. However, before taking any such measures it is necessary to know whether a mole or a gopher has created the holes in your lawn.

Identifying them will allow the person to know what kind of action has to be taken. A gopher will dig the hole and come up to get food and will also eat food found underground. It will gather food into its aptly named gopher town, which is a mixture of tunnels, dug underground by these creatures.

Plan of Action

There may be a number of ways in which the gopher can be captured and get rid of including fencing, exclusions, repellents and trapping.

Trapping

This procedure requires a lot of patience and accuracy. The traps have to be placed near the mud holes left by the pest because these are creatures of habit and are likely to come out of the same hole the entered through. This may take a lot of time so one must wait patiently if one wants to capture the pest.

It is key to identify fresh molds of holes, as this is the likely place the gopher will come out off. The mistake of plugging the hole should not be made, as this would alert the gopher that someone has breached its home and it will not come out.

Gassing

This is another technique that could be used, however, one must be sure of the presence of the gopher in that area and must make sure to cover the hole properly after throwing in the gas. One hole must be left uncovered out of which the person can expect the rodent to come out off.

Baiting

This is another technique that can be used but also requires a lot of patience. A poisonous bait can be set up near the hole and it is unlikely that it will be successful in the first attempt so the plan needs to be recoiled continuously. This procedure can be expensive and may cause the lawn owner over $60.
